简介：Ablond-haired,fair-complexionedactorwithatoothygrinandcapableofanunsettlingglintinhiseyes,GaryBuseywasborninGooseCreek,Texas,andwasraisedinOklahoma.HeisthesonofSadieVirginia(Arnett),ahomemaker,andDelmarLloydBusey,aconstructiondesignmanager.HehasEnglish,aswellasIrish,Scottish,andGerman,ancestry.HegraduatedfromNathanHaleHighSchoolinTulsa,Oklahomain1962andforawhilewasaprofessionalmusician.Atalenteddrummer,heplayedinseveralbands,includingthoseofcountry-and-westernlegendsLeonRussell,KrisKristoffersonandWillieNelson.Busey`sfirstfilmappearancewasasabikerinthelow-budgetAngelsHardasTheyCome(1971)and,overthenextfewyears,helandedseveralfilmrolesgenerallyasacountryhick/redneckorsurly,rebellioustypes.HisrealbreakthroughcameinthedynamicfilmTheBuddyHollyStory(1978),withBuseytakingtheleadroleasBuddyHolly,inadditiontoplayingguitarandsingingallthevocals!HisstellarperformancescoredhimaBestActornominationandtheattentionofHollywoodtakingovercastingagents.Nextup,hejoinedfellowyoungactorsWilliamKattandJan-MichaelVincentassurfingbuddiesgrowinguptogetherinthecultsurffilmBigWednesday(1978),directedbyJohnMilius.However,astringofappearancesinsomewhatmediocrefilmstookhimoutofthespotlightforseveralyears,untilheplayedthebrutalassassinMr.JoshuatryingtokillLosAngelescopsMelGibsonandDannyGloverintherunawaymega-hitLethalWeapon(1987).Furtherstrongrolesfollowed,includingalongsideDannyGloveronceagaininPredator2(1990).Hewasbackonthebeaches,thistimetrackingbankrobberswithFBIagentKeanuReeves,inPointBreak(1991)andnearlystoletheshowasapsychoticNavyofficerinleaguewithterroristsledbyTommyLeeJonestakingovertheUSSMissouriinthehighlypopularUnderSiege(1992).
